How to manage site excavation successfully?

Site excavation is the first step in which we start the building projects, this step should be managed successfully in order to minimize the cost of it and to reach the required level with the shortest time as possible, so we need to know what are the steps to follow to achieve our purpose in all the circumstances and site conditions of the natural ground.

What are the right steps to achieve a successful site excavation?

1.          Firstly we survey the site of the building project to have written information about the levels of the natural ground which called a contour grid lines plan and make an alignment for these levels to the site plan of the project to make sure we take into consideration all the parts of the project that needs excavations depends on the design levels.
2.          Then we surround the site of building with fence and warning signs required for the safety of the people getting close to the excavation area. Then we clean the site from trees, old buildings and make sure from the authorities that there are no service lines in the site such as electricity, water, telephone lines crossing the excavation area.
3.          Now it depends on the type of soil if it needs a sheet pile around the excavation area to prevent the collapse of soil when excavating or not when we deal with hard rock soil.
4.          With the help of a surveyor we mark the outlines of the excavation area and taking into consideration a work space of not less than 1.5m more than the required outline of the excavation area for the workers to execute their jobs easily.
5.          To choose the type of excavators to be used it depends on the type of soil wither it is rock soil or soft for excavating operations .
6.          We start the excavation process after making the required calculation to what depth we need to excavate,and travelling the excess soil out side the site, and we should notice to store some of the excavated materials if it is suitable for back filling behind the walls of the building.
7.          Every time we should chick the level and outline of excavation with the help of a surveyor to make sure that our excavator is excavating in the right location of excavation which mean he didn't excavating more or less than the required area of excavation and not more than the required level of excavation and we shouldn't depend on our approximation because the human eye always makes mistakes in this kind of approximation, by all these mentioned steps we will never make mistakes in our site excavation ,so we manage a successful site excavation.
